Spring 1:
Acting is reacting

9th January - 13th February

10th January - 14th February
Children will be introduced to the idea of duologues, we will explore what makes an effective performance when there is more than one person on stage performing. Notice and react to what the other person is doing in the scene, work as a team on stage to tell the story. How can we help each other deliver a better performance? What to do onstage if something goes wrong?

Summer 1:
The Ensemble

24th April - 22nd May (5 Weeks)

25th April - 23rd May (5 Weeks)
The focus will be on teamwork and how other cast members can work together to boost the overall performance of a scene. Particular detail on breath, beats, echoes, moving in unison and making the scenery with bodies and levels. What is the impact when everyone speaks? What is the impact when no-one speaks? When would this element be most powerful in a performance?

Summer 2:
Devising Theatre

5th June - 10th July

6th June - 11th July

In the final half term, children will be taught how to effectively devise a short scene in a small group. There will be a focus on clowning and how to engage an audience with physical comedy using repetition, eye contact and melodrama. This will give children lots of ideas to apply to create a short scene that can be performed for parents. Children have the opportunity to write their own small scripts with guidance.
